Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist

Our multi-disciplinary team includes Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialists, working collaboratively with consultants to ensure every patient receives a personalised, tailored treatment plan with one to one support before, during and after surgery. We hold regular Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to ensure the best course of treatment for our patients, aiming to achieve the best possibleclinical outcomes.

Clinical Nurse Specialist Orthopaedics

The role of an Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist is crucial in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to care.  Desmond Runganga provides patients with one to one specialist care, support and guidance at every step of their journey, including after they have returned home. Working closely with patients, their families, consultants, nurses and physiotherapists, Desmond ensures orthopaedic patients receive the best possible attention, aiming to achieve the best clinical outcomes.

Our physiotherapists can work with patients from the privacy of their hospital bedroom, or in our dedicated physiotherapy unit. The tailored physiotherapy courses they design provide effective relief and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions.

My ACL surgery at King Edward VII's Hospital

I’ve been playing football for 26 years, so I’ve had my fair share of injuries. I gave up football when my son Monty was born, but I’ve started playing a bit again as he’s got older. My knee injury happened mid-game. Reaching to intercept a pass, I heard a dreaded popping sound as my foot returned to earth. I hobbled off as the game continued around me.
