One of the keys to a successful recovery following treatment or surgery is a carefully planned rehabilitation programme. Physiotherapy can be vital in helping you get back to normal by restoring muscle strength, regaining range of movement and most importantly, regaining the confidence to do the things you love.
King Edward VII’s Hospital places great emphasis on rehabilitation and our highly experienced team of chartered physiotherapists work closely with the consultants that practice here. They are on hand to work with you from the privacy of your hospital bedroom or in our dedicated physiotherapy unit meaning whatever your situation, we have the expertise and facilities on-site to support you on your journey back to fitness.
We even have one of London’s only purpose built hydrotherapy pools, ideal for patients who are not ready to bear weight. If you have had treatment such as foot, knee, hip or shoulder surgery, the warmth and support of the water helps to decrease pain, improve mobility and enhance balance and co-ordination.
Physiotherapy can benefit a wide spectrum of conditions, from sports injuries to arthritis and chronic pain. It can also help with rehabilitation after an operation.
The treatments we offer include:
In addition to our physiotherapy outpatient department, each ward has a physiotherapist who monitors patients having orthopaedic surgery. Your physiotherapist will help you get up and about as soon as possible through physiotherapy exercises, also helping if a pre-existing problem reoccurs or gets worse while you are in hospital.
