The King Edward VII’s Hospital Diagnostic & Imaging Centre in London is equipped with the most advanced technology, equipment and a wealth of expertise. We welcome new patient referrals to our service and pride ourselves in making the patient journey as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

Medical imaging

King Edward VII’s Hospital David Thompson Imaging Suite is equipped with the most advanced technology, equipment and a wealth of expertise. Our diagnostics department is unified by a team of administration staff and senior radiographers who can scan each modality and report on a wide range of conditions.

All tests, administration and reporting are done internally, resulting in rapid results, personalised treatment and respectful, quality service. Based primarily in our state-of-the-art medical centre, we offer a relaxed environment for patients to access a five-star experience.  As well as rapid results and continuity of care, patients needing further treatment will have access to the very best hand-picked consultants for efficient referrals and world-class treatment.

The department is open Monday–Friday, 8am–8pm (phone lines are open 8am – 6pm). We have a walk-in service for general X-ray, but you will be required to make an appointment for other services.

How to refer

If you would like to refer a patient for diagnostic imaging please, We have a walk-in service for general X-ray. Appointments are required for other services.

Our Diagnostic Imaging Equipment and capabilities

  • 3T MRI Siemens Vida Scanner
    • 3T MRI specialising in musculoskeletal (MSK), gynaecological, neurological, urological (incl. multi-parametric prostate scanning) and breast imaging
    • 3T MRI provides high-performance clinical MRI scans of the entire body across all specialities (excluding cardiac MRI)
  • Aquilion One Prism Canon CT with Cardiac CT
    • CT cardiac scanning with one-shot acquisition, CT Coronary Angiography & CT Calcium Score scanning
    • CT volume scan. With the Aquilion One Prism CT Scanner, the 16cm wide area detector significantly improves your ability to obtain high-quality images consistently across patients. With just one rotation, you can acquire an entire heart, in a fraction of a second, with less done and great z-axis uniformity

The Referral Pathway

Referring to our diagnostic and medical imaging centre is easy.

Consultants and GPs please fill out the Diagnostic Imaging referral form and email to imagingsecretary@kingedwardvii.co.uk

Once you have sent the form to our imaging team (or given it to the patient to book themselves in)  our imaging team will be able to contact your patient to book them in for a scan at a convenient time for them

Our multi-disciplinary teams work efficiently to provide results within 24-48 hours, with more than 80% of reports being delivered within 24 hours of the examination being performed.

Getting results with Biotronics 3D 

As of mid-August 2023 we are delighted to be using the PACS system Biotronics 3D which will allow referrers to access images and reports in a “live format” both within the Hospital and outside the organisation’s network, dramatically reducing the wait time for results.
