Professor Michael Douek is an esteemed Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at King Edward VII’s Hospital, specialising in breast cancer surgery and breast reconstruction. As an internationally recognised leader in the field, he offers comprehensive expertise across the full spectrum of breast surgery, including providing second opinions.
In addition to his busy clinical practice, Professor Douek is at the forefront of innovation in cancer surgery, actively developing and evaluating cutting-edge techniques. He pioneered the novel magnetic technique for sentinel node biopsy and lesion localization (Sentimag), and is one of the trailblazers of intra-operative radiotherapy for breast cancer. He also initiated the first prospective trial of a biological device for breast implant reconstruction. As Chief Investigator of several international clinical trials, he continues to drive advancements in breast cancer treatment.
Recognised for his contributions, Professor Douek was awarded the prestigious Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015, and in 2019 was appointed as one of their esteemed Research Professors.
Currently, he serves as President of the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO), Treasurer of Breast Surgery International (BSI), and is an active member of the British Breast Group (BBG).
