Mr Shah Punwar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King Edward VII's Hospital, specialising in knee and hip replacement. {{ label }}
Mr Punwar is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and an expert in hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacements, sports knee injuries, ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction and meniscal surgery. He specialises in both joint replacements for arthritis and arthroscopic knee sports surgery. He has particular interests in minimally invasive partial knee replacements, revision knee replacements and is also a high volume ACL reconstruction surgeon.
Mr Punwar is a member of the London International Patient Services (LIPS) medical group and follows best practice by discussing all complex cases with colleagues at regular MDT meetings. As well as a Diploma in Sports Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), Mr Punwar has a postgraduate certificate in medical education from the University of Bristol and publishes his research work in peer-reviewed journals.

Background
Mr Punwar graduated from the Imperial College School of Medicine, London in 2001 and completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Bristol. He received his fellowship in Trauma & Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng) in 2012.
In 2013 he undertook a year of complex hip & knee arthroplasty and sports injury training in Perth, Western Australia.
Mr Punwar’s NHS Base is University Hospital Lewisham where he is the Clinical Director of the orthopaedic unit. He also an Honorary Consultant at Guy’s Hospital where he performs complex knee revision surgery. He is the lead surgeon for revision knee replacement surgery across his NHS Trust and often receives second opinion referrals from colleagues. He is a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Kings College London and involved in both examining and supervising Kings College London medical students.
He is a regular faculty member for educational courses run by Orthopaedic Research UK and is a member of the British Association of Knee Surgeons.
