Mr Manoj Sood is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King Edward VII’s Hospital. Mr Sood is a leading and respected hip and knee surgeon who deals with all hip and knee issues as well as sports injuries.
He has huge experience in hip and knee replacement surgery, including revision and complex cases, as well as in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction and cartilage regeneration procedures. He treats all lower limb sports injuries and tendon pain, particularly tendinopathies.
Mr Sood has excellent communication skills and provides his patients with jargon-free explanations of their problems. He assesses his patients very carefully and organises specialist scans when needed to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. He only works with a very select team of specialist radiologists to ensure high-quality scan interpretation. After diagnosis, he provides a clear, individualised treatment plan for his patients that considers their individual circumstances and their exercise/activity goals. He offers a wide range of treatment choices suited to each patient, including non-surgical options.
His extensive experience allows him to diagnose and treat rarer conditions, and he is often sought out to provide second opinions. In his referral practice, he manages the most complex and challenging cases, such as hip and knee replacements that have failed and must be redone.
Mr Sood has performed almost 2000 primary and revision hip and knee replacements. His data from the National Joint Registry show that he has excellent patient outcomes with a very low revision rate and risk of complications compared to national expected rates.
He is proud to have been awarded both the Top Doctors Certificate of Excellence for his patient ratings in 2020 and 2022 and the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in 2021, 2022 and 2023 for delivering outstanding care. His Doctify and other patient reviews are also very pleasing. He has also been recognised by his NHS Trust with the award of 3 Clinical Excellence Awards.
Mr Sood graduated from Guys Hospital in 1992 and went on to train at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), where he became a Clinical lecturer in the Professorial Unit. In 2004, he received additional specialist training in hip and knee surgery at two centres of excellence in North America: The Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was mentored by two of the world’s best hip and knee surgeons. He been in Specialist Hip & Knee Consultant Practice since 2004.
He is a firm believer in preserving native joints (joint preservation) wherever possible by reconstructing joint damage using cartilage regeneration techniques and by using biological therapies. He is an expert hip and knee joint replacement surgeon when arthritis is too advanced for joint preservation.
