Mr Ellis Downes is a highly experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist at King Edward VII's Hospital, with a longstanding, successful medical practice which attracts patients from all over the United Kingdom and internationally. His particular interests are menstrual problems, urinary leakage, prolapse and keyhole surgery. He is also experienced in high risk and low risk obstetrics. {{ label }}

He lectures widely at medical conferences, nationally and internationally, and was listed in Tatler’s 2013 Guide as one of the UK’s Top 250 Specialists.

My career high is becoming a Member of the Executive Committee at the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ISGE), a global association, and helping to organise global training programmes.
I am a past Gold Medal Winner of the Singapore Society of Gynaecologists, and am recognised as one of the UK’s leading doctors by Tatler magazine.
I am a Member of the Executive Committee at the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy and Associate Editor of Facts, Vision and Views, at the Gynaecological Journal.
I have been involved in training doctors in this country and overseas for over 20 years.
I have performed endometrial ablation, a minimally invasive, highly effective treatment for heavy periods.
I have published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and am Co-Editor of the textbook ‘Recent Advances in Gynaecological Surgery’.
