King Edward VII’s Hospital is seeking a dynamic, experienced and highly engaging Head of Theatre Services to join our renowned team.
Job Summary
As Head of Theatre Services, you will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across our main theatres, day surgery unit, endoscopy, and decontamination services. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service delivery, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Reporting to the Head of Operations for day-to-day management and accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer for clinical governance and regulatory compliance, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of surgical services at one of London’s most prestigious hospitals.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating theatre, endoscopy, and sterile services teams to deliver outstanding patient care.
- Overseeing daily operations, resource management and scheduling to maximise efficiency and minimise patient wait times.
- Driving clinical governance, quality assurance and achievement of AFPP accreditation.
- Ensuring robust health and safety compliance and emergency planning.
- Building strong relationships with consultants, service users, and external partners.
To be the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate that you:
- are an RN or ODP with current NMC or HCPC registration;
- can provide visible, professional leadership to the multidisciplinary theatre team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement;
- have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements including CQC standards, infection control and patient safety protocols;
- foster a positive, supportive working environment that prioritises wellbeing, retention and professional growth;
- can effectively monitor budget performance, manage stock control and ensure procurement of appropriate equipment and supplies.
