Job Summary

As Head of Theatre Services, you will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across our main theatres, day surgery unit, endoscopy, and decontamination services. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service delivery, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Head of Operations for day-to-day management and accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer for clinical governance and regulatory compliance, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of surgical services at one of London’s most prestigious hospitals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating theatre, endoscopy, and sterile services teams to deliver outstanding patient care.
• Overseeing daily operations, resource management and scheduling to maximise efficiency and minimise patient wait times.
• Driving clinical governance, quality assurance and achievement of AFPP accreditation.
• Ensuring robust health and safety compliance and emergency planning.
• Building strong relationships with consultants, service users, and external partners.

To be the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate that you:

• are an RN or ODP with current NMC or HCPC registration;
• can provide visible, professional leadership to the multidisciplinary theatre team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement;
• have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements including CQC standards, infection control and patient safety protocols;
• foster a positive, supportive working environment that prioritises wellbeing, retention and professional growth;
• can effectively monitor budget performance, manage stock control and ensure procurement of appropriate equipment and supplies.
