Department Overview
The Outpatient Department, located within the Kantor Medical Centre (KMC) building, is a state-of-the-art clinical facility spanning 7 floors, dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centred care. The department accommodates a wide range of specialist consultant clinics, minor procedures and diagnostic services, serving both self-paying and insured patients in a private, discreet and welcoming environment.
Each floor is designed to offer a seamless patient journey, from consultation to treatment, supported by advanced clinical technology and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team across a number of specialties.
The department operates Monday to Saturday, providing high-quality, personalised care consistent with King Edward VII’s Hospital’s reputation for clinical excellence and compassionate service.
Role Summary
The Staff Nurse for outpatient services plays an essential role in supporting the safe, effective and efficient running of daily clinics within the KMC Outpatient Department. Working closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary team, the postholder will deliver high standards of clinical care and a first-class patient experience.
This position requires a confident, adaptable nurse with excellent communication skills, clinical competence and a professional, patient-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Professional
- Deliver safe, evidence-based and compassionate nursing care in all outpatient clinics and treatment rooms.
- Assist with the setup and smooth running of daily clinics across multiple floors within the KMC building.
- Support consultants during minor procedures, ensuring all clinical areas are prepared and maintained to the highest standards.
- Act as chaperone and provide reassurance to patients throughout their visit.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with hospital policy and legal requirements.
- Administer medication and assist with phlebotomy, wound care and cannulation within scope of practice.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and dignity in line with NMC Code (2018) and Data Protection Act (2018).
- Participate in infection prevention, risk management and quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement in clinical standards.
Education and Professional Development
- Maintain current NMC registration and professional revalidation.
- Keep up to date with best practice and clinical advancements relevant to outpatient and ambulatory care.
- Attend mandatory and specialist training as required, including Immediate Life Support (ILS).
- Contribute to staff orientation, mentorship and clinical teaching within the department.
- Actively engage in appraisal and professional development discussions to support career growth.
Communication and Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with consultants, administrative staff, diagnostic teams and other hospital departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and their families, providing information, reassurance and support.
- Promote a positive and professional image of the hospital at all times, consistent with the standards expected in a high-end private healthcare environment.
