Mr Myutan Kulendran is a leading, London-based, consultant general surgeon. Mr Kulendran consults privately at King Edward VII Hospital, while his NHS base is St George’s Hospital, one of the largest hospital centres in the UK. He is actively involved in teaching and research and is a Senior Lecturer at St George’s University.

As a high-volume bariatric surgeon, Mr Kulendran possesses expertise in all the different stages of weight loss surgical management – prior, during, and after surgery. He regularly performs revisional surgery for weight regain and complications following bariatric surgery, and he is also part of the bariatric multidisciplinary decision-making team at St George’s Hospital.

Aside from weight loss surgery, Mr Kulendran is also highly trained and experienced in cholelithiasis (gallstones) surgery, hiatus hernia and acid reflux treatment, as well as gastric balloon insertion. To ensure his patients only receive the most up-to-date treatments, Mr Kulendran is presently involved in the development of robotic upper gastrointestinal and endoscopic services at St George’s Hospital.

Mr Kulendran qualified from University of London with his MBBS and an intercalated BSc in Physiology. He then spent a period in formal research at St Mary’s Hospital investigating weight loss, which led to the award of a PhD in 2014, and completed his higher upper GI and hepatobiliary surgical training in South London, at St George’s Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. Having become a fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019, Mr Kulendran accomplished a prestigious general and bariatric surgery fellowship at Homerton University Hospital before taking his consultant post in 2021.
