Care of Children and Young People

At King Edward VII’s Hospital, we are committed to providing safe, high-quality care tailored to the needs of young people, aged 16-17. Our newly launched service ensures that all young patients receive the appropriate support, clinical oversight, and care coordination—regardless of where in the hospital they are treated.
What We Offer:

- Specialist paediatric oversight in every specialty
- Safe staffing and training standards
- Clear communication with families and carers
Services We Provide:
- Consultations with consultants who have practising privileges to see young persons
- Non-interventional procedures
- Phlebotomy, carried out by adult RNs with appropriate competency (no additional paediatric qualification required)
- Imaging services, including MRI, ultrasound, and X-rays
- Physiotherapy
Services Not Provided:
- Interventional procedures
- Scans requiring contrast
- Sedation
- Hydrotherapy services
For Referrers:
Our team works closely with GPs and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth transitions into hospital care. If you are referring a patient between the ages of 16 and 17, rest assured they will be supported by our Care of Children and Young People Service.
