Professor Maxine Tran is a consultant urologist with an established specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of kidney tumours; and rare inherited kidney cancer pre-disposition syndromes. Her clinical and research interests have been focused on improving the experience, outcomes and shared decision making process in patients diagnosed with renal tumours.
Maxine graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’s medical schools in 1999 and completed her ‘house jobs’ and basic surgical training in London. She went on to be awarded a highly competitive MRC clinical training fellowship for her PhD research at Imperial College London (2003-2006) before completing specialist urological surgery training as the first NIHR clinical lecturer in Urology at Cambridge University Hospital. Maxine was appointed Senior Lecturer at UCL in 2015 and promoted to Professor of Urology in 2022. She has published over 100 research articles and is a key-opinion leader in the field, evidenced by her appointment on both the NICE and European Association of Urology guideline panel for Kidney Cancer. She is a regular invited lecturer or faculty member in international and national urology conferences.
