Professor Gus Gazzard, MBBChir MA MD FRCOphth, is a London-based Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and leading researcher in eye care.
His primary areas of expertise are cataracts, glaucoma and the medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma (including complex cataract surgery). He trained at Cambridge University and UCL, joining Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2005 after a Research Fellowship in Singapore, where he ran clinical trials of glaucoma surgery. He is Chief Investigator of the 6 year £2m multi-centre LiGHT trial of SLT in the UK and the sister trial in China. He is currently training surgeons in the use of the iStent, Xen, InnFocus and Hydrus shunts and is the Director of the Glaucoma Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
