Specialist Treatments
Treatments offered at King Edward VII’s Hospital include, but are not limited to:
- Hip Replacement
- Arthroscopic hip impingement surgery
- Hip Arthroscopy
- Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
- Hip Arthroscopy
My Practice
I am one of a small handful of UK hip surgeons who has a large practice focussed entirely on hip replacement, revision hip replacement and hip preservation (keyhole surgery and bone realignment).
I am part of the hip research unit at the University of Oxford, one of the largest orthopaedic research facilities in Europe.
I believe in applying the latest research evidence to help patients. I have a strong interest in enhanced recovery after surgery, including – where appropriate – day-case joint replacement.
I believe in a personalised, caring and friendly approach to diagnosing and treating people’s hip and groin problems.
Professional Biography
Simon is a Consultant Hip Surgeon at King Edward VII’s Hospital and the world-renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. He is a founding member of Grosvenor Orthopaedic Partners LLP. He is also Senior Clinical Research Fellow in the Hip Research Team at the University of Oxford.
This combination of roles allows him to combine a large clinical practice with the latest cutting-edge hip-related research.
Simon graduated in medicine from the University of Southampton in 2004 and trained in orthopaedic surgery in north-west London. He completed fellowships in hip surgery in Bournemouth, Oxford and Guy’s Hospital, London. During his training, Simon completed a PhD in orthopaedic surgery at Imperial College London. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2013. He is a member of the British Hip Society and the International Society of Hip Arthroscopists.
Simon is a specialist hip surgeon who performs over 300 hip procedures each year. Simon’s practice includes the management of hip arthritis, hip dysplasia, labral tears, femoroacetabular (hip) impingement and sports hip injuries. He founded the day-case hip replacement and the adult pelvic osteotomy services in Oxford. He is the lead surgeon for the hip and knee fellowship programme in Oxford, one of the most prestigious post-graduate fellowship programmes that trains consultant-level surgeons from the UK and abroad to become hip and knee specialists.
