Mr Robert Marston is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery at King Edward VII Hospital. {{ label }}
For 20 years his NHS Consultant Practice was at St Mary’s Hospital, London W2, part of the Imperial Hospital group.
Mr Marston graduated from St Thomas’ Hospital in 1985, BSc. Honours, MBBS. After junior hospital posts in and around London he did his basic surgical training at the United Norwich Hospitals. His higher surgical training in Orthopaedics and Trauma was on the Middlesex/Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore rotation where he spent a period of time in full-time clinical research as Johnson & Johnson hip fellow to Professor Bentley. After gaining the Orthopaedic Fellowship exam he undertook specialist training in complex hip and revision hip surgery with Ms Muirhead Allwood as Zimmer fellow.
He won a British Orthopaedic Travelling fellowship, during which time he visited four centres in the United States and Queensland before taking up his consultancy at St Mary’s in 1996.
Mr Marston has developed and specialises in minimally invasive hip replacement and rapid rehabilitation, in addition to complex primary hip and revision hip replacement surgery. He has an interest in the treatment of patients’ unfortunate enough to suffer fractures around hip and knee replacements (periprosthetic fractures)
He performs minimally invasive partial knee replacement (microplasty), total knee replacement and revision.
Mr Marston was a well-known figure in the world of post graduate orthopaedic teaching and training. He continues to be asked to contribute on training courses, assessments and appointment committees.
For almost a decade he was the Chairman of the North-West Thames Orthopaedic and Trauma training rotation, the largest in the country.
