Professional Biography

Nick trained in general surgery but is now a specialist upper GI and reflux surgeon at King Edward VII's Hospital. He qualified from Southampton University and undertook his post-graduate surgical training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. {{ label }}

Nick was awarded a Master of Surgery degree by London University for his research into blood flow in the stomach and gastro-intestinal tract and published numerous scientific papers based upon this work. He then undertook advanced laparoscopic training at the Minimal Access Training Unit in Guildford. He was appointed consultant surgeon to Maidstone and Tunbridge in 2000 where he led the centralisation of gastro-oesophageal cancer surgery in Kent.

Nick discontinued cancer surgery in 2008 and his practice is now dedicated to benign upper GI pathology, the laparoscopic treatment of abdominal wall and groin hernias and gallstones, having performed several thousand operations over the last 25 years.

However, over the last decade, he has developed a particular interest in the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. He established and leads the first multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients and has become one of the most experienced  surgeons in Europe offering LINX sphincter augmentation. He is a founding member of the European Foregut Society.
