Professional Biography

Dr Rozina S. Ali is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at King Edward VII's Hospital specialising in all aspects of Breast Surgery, including reconstructions, augmentations, reductions and nipple eversion to name a few. {{ label }}

Dr Ali is an internationally trained and highly experienced consultant plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon. She graduated from St Thomas Hospital Medical School, University of London with First Class Anatomy BSc honours and a research thesis on skeletal remains based at the Natural History Museum. Dr Ali continued her research interests, studying Leprosy in Venezuela and then later combined both interests, looking at the signs of leprosy in ancient bones. She completed her Doctorate at the Centre for Cutaneous Research, University of London, describing newly discovered innate immune peptides known as Human Beta Defensins in the skin and gut and going on to develop novel antibodies for research purposes.

Dr Ali has been writing and publishing in the scientific literature since 1991 with her contribution to the World Health organisation study on the ocular complications of leprosy and winning the Great Britain and Ireland Anatomical Society Undergraduate prize.

Dr Ali pursued postgraduate surgical training at several London teaching hospitals including St Thomas’ and the Royal London, as well as specialist units such as Great Ormond Street and the St Andrews Burns Unit at Chelmsford. Her interest in microvascular surgery was sparked when she was the only British junior doctor to attend the inaugural meeting of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery in Taiwan in 2001. Since that time, she has pursued an interest in microvascular breast reconstruction and perforator flap surgery with additional training and fellowships in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, breast aesthetics and advanced surgery as well as several advanced aesthetics fellowship in Brazil with her friend and mentor the late Professor Ivo Pitanguy. She has gone on to write numerous paper on microvascular surgery and breast reconstruction and contributed to some of the most respected texts in Plastic surgery including Grabb’s Encyclopaedia of Flaps, Scott Spear’s ‘Surgery of the Breast: Principles and Art’ and the inaugural Perforator flaps books (Blondeel et al). She has collaborated and written with some of the most esteemed names in International plastic surgery. Her papers have been cited hundreds of times and she has been invited Keynote speaker or presenter at numerous National and International meetings from Singapore to Mexico.

Dr Ali has practiced in the NHS for 25 years and was a consultant in microvascular breast reconstruction for the last 10 years before relocating to London in 2017 to develop her breast and facial aesthetics practice in the private sector. Dr Ali continues to pursue her interest in breast reconstruction, congenital breast abnormalities and breast aesthetics. Her facial practice is sophisticated and nuanced combining the best of surgical innovations, non-surgical technologies and therapeutic skincare to serve the needs of her wide spectrum of discerning clients. She is a pioneer of fat transfer and the use of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) to inject stem cell rich media to scalp, face, breasts, scars in order to rejuvenate and regenerate tissues and volumise and reconstruct defects. She has developed a large regenerative aesthetics practice.

Dr Ali is a member of the ASPS Surgeon-to-Surgeon Breast Implant Safety Consultation Network. She is a multi-award winning surgeon, notable highlights include the prestigious Kroll scholarship to study microvascular breast reconstruction in Ghent, Belgium. She is the only Briton to win this Global award to date. She has been awarded a Craniofacial scholarship at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and a one year international microsurgery fellowship at the world-renowned Chang Gung memorial hospital in Taiwan. Other accolades include a British Association of Plastic Surgeons European scholarship and the Cutler’s Surgical Fellowship. Rozina is one of the most high profile aesthetic plastic surgeons in the UK today. She has been celebrated in the media, presenting the BBC2 Horizon documentary ‘The Truth about Looking Younger’ and Channel 4’s prime time TV series ‘How not to get old’. She is famously forthright and thoughtful and shares her personal philosophy of aesthetic surgery in her TEDx talk. She has written for the Huffington Post, been featured in numerous magazines and journals and has a Wikipedia page devoted to her. She has been recognized within her profession and in 2017 was profiled in the Centenary issue of Medical Woman as one of the UK’s top 100 female doctors who have succeeded in changing the medical landscape. She has won numerous healthcare awards including the Muslim Power 100 Healthcare Excellence Award, the Private Healthcare awards ‘Best Aesthetic and Reconstructive surgeon- London, 2019’ and awarded London’s leading Aesthetic Surgeon 2020 at the GHP Global Excellence awards and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist of the Year 2022/2023 by Corporate LiveWire Global Awards
