Professional Biography

Mr Bhaskar Thakur is a Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in neck and back pain, neurosurgery, spinal and neck surgery, spinal disorders and spinal surgery including spinal injections and endoscopic keyhole surgery to disc replacement and complex spinal fusion.
Mr Thakur read Medicine at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, and continued his clinical training at Imperial College London. His neurosurgical training took place at two of London’s internationally renowned teaching hospitals – King’s College Hospital and St George’s Hospital – before completing the prestigious Sir Hugh Cairns Complex Spinal Surgery Fellowship at the Royal London Hospital, a joint neurosurgical and orthopaedic fellowship focusing on advanced spinal surgery.

Mr Thakur has a particular passion for minimally invasive (keyhole) spinal surgery, which offers patients significant benefits over traditional open procedures, including less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery. He is highly experienced across the full spectrum of spinal surgery, from spinal injections and endoscopic keyhole surgery to disc replacement and complex spinal fusion, which he also performs using minimally invasive techniques.

In addition to his spinal expertise, Mr Thakur is a fellowship-trained neurovascular surgeon. He regularly manages and operates on complex vascular conditions of the brain and spine, including intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and cavernomas. He frequently advises patients on screening and treatment options for aneurysms. His neurosurgical practice also encompasses the management of hydrocephalus, head injuries, and a wide range of other brain conditions.
