Mr Zafer Tandogdu is a Consultant Urological and Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgeon with specialist expertise in prostate cancer diagnostics, robotic radical prostatectomy, surgical planning, recurrent urinary tract infections, chronic prostatitis and complex urinary infection.
Mr Tandogdu currently holds a substantive NHS consultant position at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he works as a Consultant Urologist and Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgeon. He is also an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at University College London, within the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science.
His clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate cancer, including MRI-guided and patient-specific surgical planning, nerve-sparing robotic prostatectomy, Retzius-sparing and anterior robotic approaches, and the management of complex cases requiring careful functional and oncological decision-making. He has a particular interest in improving continence, erectile function and cancer outcomes after prostate cancer surgery.
In addition to his uro-oncology practice, Mr Tandogdu has internationally recognised expertise in urinary tract infection, recurrent UTI, prostatitis and antimicrobial resistance. He is Chair of the European Association of Urology Section of Infections in Urology and has contributed extensively to research, education and guideline-related work in this field.
Mr Tandogdu has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in clinical research, surgical innovation, governance and training. His work aims to combine high-quality surgical care with personalised decision-making, evidence-based practice and a strong focus on patient outcomes.
