King Edward VII’s Hospital opens state-of-the-art Day Surgery Unit

King Edward VII’s Hospital has opened the doors to its brand new, state-of-the-art Day Surgery Unit, welcoming its first patients at the end of September.

The unit increases the Hospital’s surgical capacity to four theatres, as well as providing a quicker, more streamlined journey for patients undergoing minor surgical procedures such as cataract surgeries, hysteroscopy, endoscopies and cystoscopies.

Fully equipped with the most up to date equipment and technology, it features four day case ‘pods’ and three recovery bays, giving patients a private space to recover from surgery without the need to be admitted to a hospital bed.

Referring your patients for endoscopies

With the recent opening of its Day Surgery Unit, King Edward VII’s Hospital now has increased capacity to carry out endoscopies, making it easier and quicker for you to refer your patients. The majority of patients will not need a prior consultation and you can book them in for the procedure directly.

When booking in your patients for an endoscopy you will be asked to fill in a referral form and confirm that the patient is fit to have bowel prep prior to the procedure.

To refer your patients for an endoscopy, simply phone the Contact Centre on 020 7467 4344 or email contactcentre@kingedwardvii.co.uk
