Exciting developments at KE7

King Edward VII’s Hospital is committed to constant development of our facilities and infrastructure as well as investment in the latest cutting edge technology. As a charity, we reinvest our annual surplus back into the organisation on such projects.

Currently we have a number of major development projects underway including Kantor Medical Centre (KMC), our brand new outpatient and diagnostic centre, which is due to open later this year. KMC will provide additional modern, fully equipped consulting rooms and state of the art imaging facilities, including a 3T MRI scanner.

Refurbishment started on our endoscopy unit back in November 2020 to construct a fourth theatre, where we will carry out endoscopy and other day surgery procedures. The new Day Surgery Unit (DSU) will have three recovery bays and several private day surgery pods, complete with ensuites, allowing us to expand our theatre capacity by 25%. The project is on track to be completed in the coming months.

Phase 2 of the project, due to commence once KMC is open, is to build a fifth 64m2 state-of-the-art theatre with Hybrid and IR capabilities. This will connect to the DSU, providing a complete second operating hub within the hospital. The overall completion is anticipated for 2022.

We are very excited about these developments and hope to share the opening dates with you as soon as we can. Look out for further updates on these two projects in the coming weeks.

New outpatient vasectomy service

We are pleased to offer a new outpatient vasectomy service, led by consultant urologist, Mr Bijan Khoubehi.

Offering this procedure in an outpatient clinic rather than in theatres provides a better service for patients as it no longer requires a hospital admission. It is also helps reduce patients’ anxiety associated with the operating theatres. The procedure can be done either under local anaesthesia or conscious sedation.

Mr Khoubehi holds a weekly clinic at King Edward VII’s Hospital. Referrals for this service can be made to our Contact Centre via phone or email.
