You can expect the highest standards of diagnosis and treatment from any consultant with practising privileges. They will also commonly have working relationships with other consultants within a related specialist area.

Common reasons for palliative care include:

  • incurable cancer, dementia or motor neurone disease
  • life-threatening conditions caused by sudden events, such as stroke or an accident
