Cervical Screening Awareness Week
Next week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week and a time to highlight the importance of women having regular screenings to help in the prevention of cervical cancer.
During the pandemic, many women have been putting off getting their tests done, which is putting an added pressure on the service through the NHS. At King Edward VII’s Hospital, we have capacity to offer cervical screening with our GPs or consultant gynaecologists every day of the week. Patients can also self-refer for this service.
If any abnormalities are detected, patients can then go on to have a colposcopy with one of our consultant gynaecologists, in a friendly supportive environment with nursing support. Biopsies can also be taken during the same visit to expedite the diagnosis.
Below is a list of our specialists who offer smear tests:
You can read more about the decrease in cervical screening and what can be done to improve uptake rates in a recent article we published on our Health Hub, reviewed by King Edward VII’s consultant gynaecologist, Mr Joseph Yazbek.
To refer your patients for a smear test, or any other service, please call our dedicated Contact Centre on 020 7467 4344 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
