Professional Biography

Mr Khalid Ghufoor is a senior Consultant Otolaryngologist and Head & Neck Surgeon experienced in complex and difficult cases of head and neck disorders. He specialised in minimal access scarless surgery, laryngology, salivary gland and thyroid surgery whilst maintaining a General ENT and Paediatric practice. {{ label }}

Mr Ghufoor is a graduate of the University of London and undertook his training in Medicine at The Royal London Hospital medical college where he received the prestigious Charrington Prize in anatomy, an MRC grant awarded for research in biochemistry in which he achieved an honours BSc. He initially trained in General Surgery, achieving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995. He trained in the North Thames ENT Training Programme, he developed subspecialist skills in minimal access surgery for cancers of the larynx, pharynx and oral cavity and has over 20 year experience in this tertiary practice . He also acquired expertise in anterior and lateral skull base surgery for tumour breaching the brain or eye. He was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Otolaryngology (FRCS ORL-HNS) in 2000.

Mr Ghufoor was appointed to the consultant staff of the department of ENT head and neck surgery, St Bartholomews Hospital  in 2001. He is Clinical Director of Head and Neck cancer surgery at UCL since 2018. Since 2016, he has been the ENT network service lead for Barts Health. He was the head of ENT service at The Royal London Hospital in 2009 and 2015. He is also the ENT Training Programme Director for North Thames, and has been a Clinical Tutor at The Royal College of Surgeons of England where he developed a number of innovative courses for practical ENT training. He is a founding member of the British Laryngological Association where he served as council member for almost a decade.
