The Role:

As a Bank Ophthalmic Technician, you will provide essential clinical support to our outpatient team, working on a flexible, zero-hours basis. This role allows you to enjoy the benefits of a bank position while offering regular opportunities to work in a supportive and professional environment.

 

Key Duties:

  • Perform advanced diagnostic tests, including OCT, biometry, and visual fields, to support consultants in delivering accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Prepare and support patients during diagnostic and outpatient procedures, prioritising their comfort and safety at all times.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment, ensuring optimal performance for accurate testing and procedures.
  • Collaborate with consultants and the wider team to ensure seamless care and efficient patient flow in the outpatient department.
  • Monitor patient responses during procedures, addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Educate and guide patients, answering questions about their care to enhance understanding and satisfaction.
  • Support departmental organisation, contributing to a calm, efficient, and patient-focused environment.

  • Proven experience as an ophthalmic technician in an outpatient setting.
  • Expertise in conducting advanced diagnostic tests and maintaining ophthalmic equipment.
  • A compassionate, patient-first approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work regular weekly shifts on a zero-hours contract basis.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
