The Hospital has a dedicated Endoscopy Unit available to both inpatients and outpatients. With the latest technologically advanced range of endoscopes, ancillary equipment and video systems, we are able to obtain excellent images of very high quality.
The Unit incorporates a procedure room, recovery and changing areas. The Unit also has state-of-the-art decontamination facilities to ensure thorough and effective cleaning of all equipment. Our endoscopy team consists of accredited consultants working in conjunction with dedicated specialist nurses.
We are fully equipped to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as:-
- Gastroscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Flexible cystoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
- ERCP
- Hysteroscopy
With the exception of ERCP, the majority of these procedures can be carried out on an outpatient basis.
Referrals can be made directly to the Endoscopy Unit by consultant endoscopists themselves or by direct referrals from GPs and any other consultant. Once a referral is received, if reqired, an accredited consultant endoscopist will be arranged to perform the procedure, at a date and time to suit both parties. A letter is then sent out with any comprehensive information and instructions.
