Mr Sam Oussedik is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with an NHS practice at UCLH. He specialises in knee surgery for sports injuries and degenerative conditions, as well as all forms of trauma surgery.

Mr Oussedik studied medicine at St Bartholomew's medical college prior to undertaking basic surgical training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He then undertook a period of research at UCH investigating the role of stem cells in integrating artificial hips into surrounding bone. During this period, he also authored numerous journal articles and co-wrote a book on trauma care. In 2006, he was appointed to the North West Thames training rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedics leading to success at the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeon's examinations in 2010.

Having spent a large proportion of his post-graduate training in the field of knee surgery, he decided to further this by spending a year at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney as Knee Fellow. During this time he was able to gain highly specialised experience in all aspects of knee and lower limb surgery, specifically focusing on the latest techniques for joint replacements and knee reconstruction following sports injuries.

His practice now encompasses all types of knee surgery, with a special interest on joint preservation through osteotomy and biological treatments together with the latest techniques in improving outcomes following knee replacements.

He undertakes research in stem cell injections for osteoarthritis and improving knee movement patterns following replacement using the latest in computer navigation technology.

He has just published his book on knee replacements, "Total Knee Arthroplasty - a Comprehensive Guide" and enjoys being on the editorial board of several orthopaedic journals, including the Bone and Joint Journal and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. In addition he has been appointed Director of SUrgical Education at UCLH and runs many successful courses for trainees.

As well as publishing numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, Mr Oussedik is the Speciality Editor for Knee surgery for the UK's premiere orthopaedic journal, the Bone and Joint Journal.

In 2016 he completed the prestigious ABC fellowship, a four week lecture tour of the US and Canada with a special focus on medical leadership.
