Miss George is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a special interest in Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery.  As a specialist in facial surgery she holds degrees in both medicine and dentistry, achieving distinction when she graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospital Medical School.  She also holds the MRCS (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons) as well as the FRCS(OMFS) which is the examination for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Her higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was carried out in London and she is on the specialist list in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Following her higher surgical training she undertook a Fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery, focusing on Facial Aesthetic Surgery.  She is passionate about Facial Surgery and believes that facial appearance does matter. It is known that people make judgments based on appearance within the first few seconds of meeting. Facial deformity can be present at birth or acquired later, possibly as a result of cancer or a traumatic injury and it can lead to negative perceptions.  Hence, she believes that it is important to use facial aesthetic techniques not just for Cosmetic Surgery but also in the management of facial trauma and the correction of facial and jaw deformity as well as for facial skin cancer reconstruction.

She has also spent time abroad, travelling to Germany, specifically to gain experience in Salivary Gland Surgery and advanced minimally invasive techniques not widely available in the UK.  She offers these techniques to NHS patients at Kings College Hospital, where she is the lead for the Minimally Invasive Salivary Gland Service.  Privately she is able to offer this service at King Edward VII's Hospital where she has access to a new salivary gland stone fragmentation device which is not widely available in the UK.  She is actively involved in teaching these techniques to Consultant Surgeons throughout the UK and abroad and is the lead for the Salivary Gland Special Interest Group (SSIG) for the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the National Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in the UK.

Her NHS base is at Kings College Hospital, a major trauma centre and teaching hospital in South London.  Here she enjoys training junior surgeons and is an Educational Supervisor for surgical trainees.  She is a core member of the multidisciplinary skin cancer team. She also treats facial and jaw deformities as part of a combined orthodontic and orthognathic surgery team.
